Erwin Chemerinksy joined the Duke School of Law faculty on July 1, 2004.
Since 1983, he had been a professor at the University of Southern
California Law School, where he was the Sydney M. Irmas Professor of Public
Interest Law, Legal Ethics, and Political Science. He is the author of many
books and articles on constitutional law and civil rights. Erwin has served as
the chair of the Elected Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission, the
Governor's Task Force on Diversity, and chair of the Mayor's Blue Ribbon
Committee on City Contracting. Erwin received his law degree from the
Harvard School of Law in 1978 and his Bachelor's from Northwestern
University. He frequently argues cases in appellate courts, including
Lockyer v. Andrade in the United States Supreme Court, which concerned
whether a life sentence for shoplifting under California's three strikes law
constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. He has been included in the Daily
Journal's list of the 100 most influential lawyers in California every year
from 1998-2003. He has taught at DePaul, Duke, Loyola of Los Angeles, and
UCLA Law Schools.

Geetanjali Dhillon is an attorney and women’s rights advocate. She works to remove institutional barriers to equity and create opportunities for women and girls to reach their highest potential. Geetanjali is the founder of Pomegranate, an organization dedicated to helping women lead their best lives, a member of the Women’s Foundation of California’s Los Angeles leadership council, and a board member of Firehorse films, India’s first women owned film production company, supporting women’s stories often marginalized by mainstream media. Geetanjali was Executive Director of the California Minority Counsel Program and an attorney with Equal Right’s Advocates where she advocated, educated and litigated in support of
affirmative action for women.

John Leguizamo is a prominent actor, writer and producer. John was born in Columbia, but raised in New York, after immigrating to the United States at age four. John studied acting at New York University. John's credits include Moulin Rouge, Son of Sam, Romeo and Juliet, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar and Carlito's Way. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in To Wong Foo and for a Tony award for his one man show, Freak.

Adam Murray is an attorney with the international law firm of Howrey Simon Arnold & White. Adam is a senior associate in Howrey's Antitrust and Commercial Litigation practice group in the firm's Los Angeles office and has focused his professional activities on complex commercial litigation. Adam has also worked on a number of high profile pro bono cases, including a case involving 57 individuals seeking relief from deplorable slum conditions. Adam received his law degree from the UC Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1998 and his Master in Economics from the Claremont Graduate School in 2000. Adam received his BA in International Relations from Pomona College in 1993. Adam is on the national board of the Center for Progressive Leadership and is Vice President of the board of the Housing Rights Center in Los Angeles. He also teaches economics at East Los Angeles City College.

Devan Pailet is a Development Executive at Urban Partners, LLC, a Los Angeles based real estate development firm. At Urban Partners, he specializes in complex financial structurings for private development and public infrastructure. Devan played a pivotal role in the establishment of Urban Partners' new equity fund, the Urban Ventures Fund I, L.P. Devan received his MBA and MRED (Master of Real Estate Development) from the University of Southern California in 2000. He also holds a BA in Architectural History from Tufts University. In 2002, Los Angeles City Council Member Jack Weiss appointed Devan to the Board of the Carthay Circle Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ). In addition, he is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Westside Urban Forum, the Los Angeles Conservancy, the National Trust and is a licensed real estate agent in the State of California.

Tina Tran is a litigation partner in the Los Angeles office of Orrick. Tina's practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation and entertainment law. Tina has tried cases in federal and state courts and has extensive appellate experience. Tina received her law degree from the UC Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1996 and received her BA from the University of Southern California in 1993.
